Pride 48 winners in the Podcast Awards

Two Pride 48 podcasts have won Podcast Awards this year:

Feast of Fun won in the GLBT category

Greetings from Nowhere won in the General category

All up, five podcasts that have participated in the annual Pride 48 Event in one or more years were nominated for an award this year, including four of the ten nominees in the GLBT category and two of those were also among the ten nominees for the People’s Choice award (our previous blog post on the awards has the full list of Pride 48 nominees and their categories).

Congratulations to the Pride 48 podcasts nominated this year, and especially to Greetings from Nowhere and Feast of Fun for their awards. Well done, everyone!

Pride 48 nominees in the Podcast Awards

Several Pride 48 participants have been nominated for this year’s Podcast Awards! In alphabetical order, they are:

Cocktails and Cream Puffs (People’s Choice, GLBT)
Feast of Fun (People’s Choice, GLBT)
Greetings from Nowhere (General)
Pod Is My Co-Pilot (GLBT)
Ramble Redhead (GLBT)

All of these nominees have participated in the annual Pride 48 Event in one or more years. Also, Ramble Redhead does a weekly show on Pride48.com. Interesting fact: Forty percent of this year's nominees in the GLBT category have participated in Pride 48 in one or more years!

You can vote in the podcast awards once per day from every different email address you have until 9pm Eastern on October 27 (USA). Click here to vote.

Congratulations to all the nominees, and best of luck from all your friends at Pride 48!

A Sincere Thank You

Three years ago, Adam and I had a casual conversation about how cool it would be to do a live podcasting event open to all GLBT & Friendly shows. Neither of us thought at that time that we would end up last weekend in Vegas in a room packed with listeners and podcasters at the conclusion of our 3rd successful event.

I suspect that most people think of Pride48 as a yearly event of continuous streaming for a weekend. However, there is another equally important part of Pride48 that exists every day of the year. I am, of course, talking about the collection of shows and listeners that make up our community.

It is truly an overwhelming thing to look back at where we came from and where we are today. Your kind words and generosity are beyond anything Adam and I had ever hoped for. However, your pats on the back are slightly misplaced - because it is the aforementioned community that truly make any of our successes possible. For that, we both thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

The Future

Since our first event three years ago, I have maintained that Pride48 is a free and open resource for the GLBT community to use. Anyone is welcome to connect to our servers to stream out to the world.

In talking with a lot of you and thinking on this myself, I realize that we have come to the point where we need to seriously put into place better tools for keeping the community thriving between our annual events.

On November 7th at 8pm EDT, Arthur and I will host a "State of the Station" to talk to you about what we would like to do. At this point, I have a lot of pieces of paper scattered about my desk with ideas scrawled on them - but these ideas are not set in stone. We would very much like to hear your thoughts and ideas as well.

In order to make this a "pseudo-organized" process, I would like for you to separate the day-to-day part of Pride48 (i.e. Streaming shows, Chat Room, Notifications) from the annual event when you submit ideas.

Clearly label your ideas as fitting into one of those two categories and send them to me at danieljbrewer@gmail.com . If you have ideas for both, send them in separate e-mails. There is no restriction on the number of ideas that you can submit, and do not worry about how far-fetched you think your idea might be.

I think you will be pleasantly surprised at some of things we have in store for the coming year. I am excited about where we are heading, and I can not wait to talk to you about it!

See you on November 7th.
